The Magma platform will turn 1 year old in a few weeks, and allows Lightning node operators to "lend" liquidity to other operators on a marketplace, by offering to open a channel for a fee. The side providing liquidity also commits to keeping the channel open for a minimum amount of time (typically 90 days), and can also collect fees on the channel as is normally the case in Lightning. Overall, the average APR for channel lenders has been around 3%[2], which is an impressive number considering it is risk-free, self-custodial yield.

Web Fingerprinting Is Worse Than I Thought


My visitor ID was stable in Safari after visiting fingerprint.com only in private windows across two separate sessions. This, despite using Safari's anti-tracking features, having iCloud Private Relay switched on, and using browser extensions which limit what kinds of scripts are able to run in my browser — and, again, accessing it only in private windows. On its homepage, FingerprintJS says the "VisitorID will remain the same for years, even as browsers are upgraded". It can be, near as makes no difference, a permanent personal identifier.

Think of ChatGPT as a blurry JPEG of all the text on the Web. It retains much of the information on the Web, in the same way that a JPEG retains much of the information of a higher-resolution image, but, if you're looking for an exact sequence of bits, you won't find it; all you will ever get is an approximation. But, because the approximation is presented in the form of grammatical text, which ChatGPT excels at creating, it's usually acceptable. You're still looking at a blurry JPEG, but the blurriness occurs in a way that doesn't make the picture as a whole look less sharp.
